| Network Specialist (Senior) IT Shared Services, Calgary 04RL1102 Network Specialist (Senior) – IT Shared Services, Toronto The Function: Reporting to the IT Manager, who is based in Calgary, this position will be responsible for directing and coordinating the design, installation and connectivity of computer and network systems to ensure the stable operation of the company’s technical systems in Cuba. You will be responsible for supporting current and new initiatives regarding the network supporting the business units in Cuba. Specific responsibilities are: -Provide guidance in terms of network design and administration. -Consult with users and evaluate requirements, recommend designs, provide cost analyses, plan projects, and coordinate tasks for installation of data networks. -Liaison with the various B/U’s operating in Cuba in coordinating any communication interconnections between the WAN (Wide Area Network) and the business unit’s internal systems. -Analyze and resolve technical problems for established networks. Serve as technical specialist in network problems and emergencies. -Provide network documentation, training, and guidance to technical team and clients. -Conduct technical research on network upgrades and components to determine feasibility, cost, time required, and compatibility with current system. -Recommend network solutions for short-, medium-, and long-range network projects. -Establish and maintain effective work relationships within own department, other departments, and throughout the Corporation. -This role will be actively responsible for supporting current and new initiatives. The Individual: This is an exciting opportunity for IT professionals with over 10 years of experience. The candidate must be a creative problem solver comfortable working in a challenging environment. The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to build and manage relationships with government officials, and other Cuban nationals. We are seeking candidates who are inclusive leaders who are comfortable acting as coaches and mentors. In addition, the successful candidate must have a track record organizing and prioritizing work to meet deadlines and handling multiple projects. This role requires an individual who is highly motivated, energetic and goal oriented; a strong team player comfortable working in a fast paced environment. Required Technical skills: -Strong background in routing and switching with extensive OSPF design and implementation experience. -Advanced knowledge of wireless technologies, concepts and implementation experience. -Experience in implementing link redundancy in a complex environment including HSRP and other link aggregation and redundancy technologies. -WAN acceleration experience with technologies such as WAAS, Citrix repeater or Riverbed. -Fibre optic cabling and troubleshooting. -ISA proxy experience would be an asset. -Experience with Citrix netscalers. -Familiarity with Cisco Mars and IPS solutions/alerts. -Experience with Windows Server 2003, Active Directory and Windows XP O/S in a desktop environment. -IT project planning and implementation skills an asset. -Strong commitment to ongoing education. Location – This position is located in Havana Cuba – Relocation to Cuba is mandatory. All relocation fees are paid. Candidates must hold a valid Canadian passport.
