Project Controls Engineer

Support delivery of a Major Project, a $1.5B new gas development. This position provides services to the entire team of approximately 40 individuals.

The project is to develop a large gas field located in Northeast British Colombia, of approximately 116 square miles of 100% working interest of undeveloped lands. This greenfield opportunity directly supports and contributes to the North American strategy of being the top tier supplier of natural gas in North America for decades to come.

The objective of the Project is to progress development of significant reserves, by drilling up to 136 wells and constructing associated surface facilities under the most economic plan. It is expected that drilling will occur over the next 10 years, with most of the surface facilities being constructed over the nest two years. The major project will also be exciting and distinctive with respect to the environment, emissions, and community involvement. This is a great opportunity to be part of a leading edge project and team. The project is just the first in "a string of pearls", and the successful candidate may have the opportunity to continue the Project Services function in other upcoming major projects.

Provide Project Control services (cost, schedule, progress, reporting, etc.) and initiate appropriate interventions to support successful delivery.

Act as Risk Champion and support the project in applying Risk Management processes and techniques with the aim of increasing awareness, ownership and management of risks leading to improved business performance. Liaise with the whole project supply chain to ensure that risks perceived by suppliers are effectively communicated throughout the project and that suppliers have systems in place to manage their risks to meet overall project objectives. Maintain the completeness and accuracy of the data in the Risk Register and generate the routine project risk reports as specified within the Project risk management plan. Provide support as required to Risk and Action owners to help them routinely and accurately report progress for the risk response plans and to complete their actions in a timely manner.

Act as Knowledge Management steward, responsible for information management (document control and information turnover), and collecting/ validating/ sharing lessons learned in accordance with the Knowledge Management Plan. Assure and document knowledge exchange/interfaces with external partners and venders, especially regarding critical knowledge areas of the major project.

Personally provide HSSE, IIF (Incident & Injury Free) and Integrity Management leadership. This includes both for the major project development.

This position requires an individual with at least 10 years of Project Management experience, with preference to major project (> $100m) experience in Project Services, Project Controls, or Engineering in the upstream oil and gas industry. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft software, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Experience with Primavera, MS Project, Kildrummy Cost Manager, SAP, and Documentum software desirable.
